    Statement, circular braided earrings. Inspired by the braided mooring ropes that adorn the traditional dhow boats as they sail around the Lamu archipelago. 


    Materials: Fully made from up-cycled Kenyan brass.

    Diameter: 4 cm.

    Brass tarnishes with oxidation and exposure to moisture. To polish your artisan jewellery, use a wedge of lemon, and polish along the tarnished surface with a small cotton towel.

    Standard shipping is free for domestic orders above US$50 and international orders above US$80. Orders above US$250 enjoy a complimentary upgrade to express shipping.

    The Lamu Braided Earrings are handcrafted by the artisan Andrew, based in Ongata Rongai - a town that is separated from Nairobi city proper by the Mbagathi river. Andrew loves watching the pieces come to fruition after the multistage processes of drawing, cutting, polishing, and soldering. He hopes to one day be able to build his own house, start a workshop, and create employment for other young people in his rural village in Rongai.

    Inspired by the idyllic, charming island of Lamu, a historic Swahili settlement that was home to traders and sailors from around the world.

    Lamu Journeys pays tribute to the serene beaches, ancient forts and historic houses, and quiet stillness of the traditional boats resting at sea.

    This five-piece capsule collection features upcycled brass, reclaimed horn, and was handcrafted with love by our artisan partners in Kenya.
