JIPIJAPA Handwoven Palm Wall Decor in Pastel Pink
Woven by hand by a small collective of artisans in Southeastern Mexico, the JIPIJAPA Handwoven Palm Wall Decor in Pastel Pink is a stunning blend of jiipjapa palm, jabin wood and natural dye derived from the chacxiu plant.
Jipijapa is a species that is similar to the toquilla palm that is used in Ecuador to create the famed panama hats. This soft, flexible and durable material makes for stunning works of art that are as long-lasting as they are beautiful.
Ideal to hang as wall art, or even as a bridal party accessory.
Materials: Natural Monocot plant fibres, Jabin wood base. Chacxiu plant dye. Colour may vary, as is common with natural dyes.
Dimensions: 36cm x 20cm with a 12cm wooden ring.
Wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners or bleach. Avoid getting it wet for risk of damaging the material. If this does occur, set the piece in a cool, dry place and reshape if necessary. This can easily be done with a spray mister and heavy books to flatten.

Each piece is handwoven by a small collective of artisans based in Southeastern Mexico who are indigenous Mayan. For all of them, Spanish is their second language. They grow and cultivate their own monocot plants – known as jipijapa palm. The plants were purchased through a government assistance program and belong to the group. Every custom fan is woven in a cave, which the artisans have on their respective properties to ensure that they maintain enough cool humidity to work on their weaving projects during any time of the day or year. Each piece purchased helps to support fair pay for local Mexican artisans.
