The Silk Road
Afghanistan was once the land at the heart of the world trade. It sits at the heart of Central Asia, at the meeting point of ancient trade routes – the Silk Roads – that go out to all parts of Asia. The cities that were located along the Silk Roads included Balkh, Bamiyan, Herat, Badakhshan and Kabul.
