Mexico
The BRUNIDO Burnished Clay Tumbler is handcrafted by a master artisan who learnt her technique in Puebla, Mexico. She uses a simple wheel to form the clay by hand, before applying a type of river mud on the exterior which produces a sublime blushed tone. After a vigorous stone burnish, these pieces are slowly pit fired over the span of four hours. The interior is then coated with a beeswax sheen and help the pottery be less porous. Pieces made with the same traditional process were found during the excavations of the Monte Albán, a large pre-Columbian archaeological site in the Oaxacan valley.
