QUEMAR Beeswax Candle
The QUEMAR Beeswax Candle is handcrafted by an award-winning master artisan, who has been producing custom pottery works for over 37 years. Each piece is created with local clay, then slowly pit fired over the span of six hours – a process that results in durable, elegant works that are supreme examples of Mexican artistry.
A cotton wick is placed in each vessel, which is then filled with hand-poured white beeswax. When burned, the candle releases negative ions which purifies the air and invigorates the body. After a burn time of 30 hours, the pottery can be cleaned and reused as a cup to serve snacks, salsa, or even to hold succulents.

#KnowYourArtisan
Mexico
This award-winning artisan has been producing custom works for over 37 years. While her mother showed her the basics or working with clay, she is self-taught, and divides her time between creating her masterpieces and teaching art at a local school. These pottery works are a crucial element to the local culture in her community and have been made in the region for thousands of years. The artisans that produce the beeswax collaborate on custom orders as three generations in their family workshop. They pour every candle by hand, and are famed for their ornate traditional beeswax candles with natural dyes. In total, these candles help to provide a positive stream of income to two indigenous Zapotec artisan families in two different communities in Oaxaca, Mexico.
