Inspired by poet Saib-e-Tabrizi who wrote about the beauty of Kabul, with words still recited in the Afghan capital today:
"Oh, the beautiful city of Kabul wears a rugged mountain skirt,
And The Rose is jealous of its lash-like thorns.
The dust of Kabul’s blowing soil smarts lightly in my eyes,
But I love her, for knowledge and love both come from her dust."

For this Afghan artisan, his favourite part of the jewellery making process is in the initial designing and planning. What motivates him is making beautiful pieces and the pride he has in creating job opportunities for other Afghans, which, in turn, is making a small contribution to the growth of Afghanistan’s craft sector.
